This is the graduation design at Fudan University under the instraction of Professor Yang, Zhao. The installation art combined with fine art, graphic art and art history concept.
Magic Cube is my graduation project at Fudan University. It is an installation art, combined many graphic design elements. The design uses pure colors, simplified characters and geometric figures. The artwork consists of 25 glass boxes, nested and covered with various symbols which represent different factors. The boxes are in a row so that the viewer can gradually obverse the objects.
Through the study of art history, I became keen on the relationship between art and society. I created a piece to express the complex factors that affect people’s view of the truth. These factors include traditional culture, media, politics and other people's opinions. In addition, these factors influence each other. The magic cube consists of many planes; hundreds of perspectives will result as it is rotated. I want to express the relationships that come from alternation and permutation by using this specific pattern.
